To submit your non-profit group, club or organization's event to the Sunny 97.1 Community Calendar, please send an email to: [email protected] or by fax at (618) 790-9377.

Please submit Community Calendar items at least 2 weeks in advance of your event.  Submission does not guarantee posting or on-air read.  All entries are subject to review, and may take up to 72 hours to post to the calendar.  We reserve the right to refuse any submissions.


Sunny 97.1 | Community Calendar

  • The Tamaroa Masonic Lodge has a coffee shop every weekday morning from 7am to 11am.  Donations are accepted and appreciated.
  • The Du Quoin Clothes Closet is open every Thursday from 10am to 12pm and 5pm to 7pm.  Good clothing is available to those in need.
  • The Du Bois KC Hall holds its Queen of Hearts Drawing every Tuesday at 7:30. Doors open at 3:00.
  • Every Thursday, the Du Quoin Elks will host Wing Night from 6-8 p.m. Volunteers are needed for Wing Nights as well. Contact the lodge at (618)542-2130 if you're interested in volunteering. 
  • Every Sunday: The Du Bois KC Hall will hold bingo from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Doors open at 5:00 p.m.
  • May 14- Boys all sports banquet at 7:00 p.m. and the Du Quoin Elks Lodge
  • May 15th- Du Quoin Elks Lodge will have a Build your own Burger night from 5:30 -7 p.m.
  • May 22- The Du Quoin Elks Lodge will have a taco bar from 5:30-7p.m.
  • May 13-17- 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Pinckneyville Community Hospital to host community discounted blood work at the PCH laboratory. Requires 10 hours fasting. No appointment required.
  •  May 13 at 11:30- Hip, Knee, Shoulder Pain luncheon at Pinckneyville Community Hospital classroom. Space is limited, please call Jennifer at (618)357-8898 by NOON on Thursday, May 9 to reserve a seat.
  • May 24: The Red Cross will be hosting a Blood Drive at the Southern Illinois Healthcare Corporate office in Carbondale from 10-3. Walk In's welcome or schedule an appointment at www.redcross.org.
  • May 24- Modern Woodmen of America Representative Nathan Shupe will hold an open house at his office, 217 E. Main Street in Du Quoin from 11-2. Lunch and snacks will be served. 
  • May 30- Illinois Humanities will host The Changing Local Media Landscapes of Urban and Rural Communities beginning at 6:00 p.m.  at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds in the First Heat Building. Doors open at 5:30 and refreshments will be provided.
  • June 1- Free Youth Fishing Tournament Hosted by the Du Quoin Jaycees and Volunteer Foundation, at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. Open to age groups 4 yrs- 12 yrs. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. Fishing from 9:00 am- 11:00 a.m. 
  • June 3- The Du Quoin Elks Lodge will have $9 fried chicken from 5:30-7 p.m.
  • June 17-21- 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Kindergarten Readiness program at Southern Illinois Rehabilitation at Pinckneyville Community Hospital. For more information or to register, call Beth at (618)357-2187 ext. 2959.
